Dawnwalker Guide
The Blood of Dawnwalker Characters
Coen is the only playable character — a Dawnwalker from the village of Laslea — and the people of Vale Sangora decide how your choices through him shape every relationship. This page gathers what the official sources, the Game Informer demo and the third-party cast listing say about the people you'll meet, the relationships you can build, and the limits of what is confirmed before launch.
01
Coen — the player character
The fixed protagonist of The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Identity
A young man from Laslea who becomes a Dawnwalker — human by day and vampire by night. The game is built around him as the single playable character.
Background
Coen grew up as the eldest child of a sick mother and a former mercenary father. He worked alongside his father in the silver mines as a child, took responsibility for his younger siblings, and secretly studied Latin — a detail that connects to the witchcraft side of his build.
Motivations
His driving motivation is to save his family after Brencis's vrakhiri capture them. That rescue is the central narrative pressure; the broader story branches out from whatever Coen chooses to do along the way.
The official character sheet describes Coen as a young man who has already been tested by the world, without giving a specific age.
02
Coen's family
The people Coen shares his Laslea home with. Story fates beyond that point are spoilers and are left out of this guide.
| Name | Relation to Coen | Public story role |
|---|---|---|
| Pieter | Father | Former mercenary who taught Coen the basics of swordsmanship; emotionally distant, strict, protective. |
| Esme | Mother | Has put family first at the cost of her own health; her condition has worsened under Brencis's rule. |
| Yanna | Second-oldest sibling | Mature beyond her years; holds the household together when Pieter and Coen are away. |
| Mirto | Younger sibling | Has grown more restless as the parents have become emotionally absent; Yanna treats this as a phase. |
| Lunka | Youngest sibling | Bright and perceptive, but the most sheltered; shares a particularly strong bond with Coen. |
03
Anca
The herbalist who teaches Coen Latin and the witchcraft side of his build. Official sources describe her as quietly guiding Coen, with a heavier secret of her own.
Profile
Anca has always been a quiet presence at Coen's side — guiding him with patience, teaching him to read, and to see beyond what is plainly written. The closer closer Coen gets, the more apparent it becomes that she also carries a secret heavy enough to set her apart from the rest of the village.
Herbalist and Latin teacher
She is more than an herbalist. In a demo quest shown to Game Informer, visiting Anca is how Coen procures an elixir for his mother, and she offers to spend a finite time segment teaching him Latin — the same system that buys Witchcraft progression elsewhere.
The Anca demo is one publicly known example of how relationships can build. It is not, by itself, confirmation of a complete romance roster; the developers have said they won't comment on the full list of romance options until release.
04
Key characters
Short entries for the people the official Characters pages name. Each uses only what's stated on the official bio.
Brencis
The Knyaz of Vale Sangora, ruling from Greifberg Castle above Svartrau. Born in the ancient Roman Empire and proud of his heritage, he took over the valley two years ago with three vrakhir boyars. The official bio frames him as the usurper rather than the benevolent ruler he once appeared to be.
Lacra
A vrakhir who turns up in the valley claiming she was sent to eliminate Brencis. The official bio calls out that where one vrakhir appears, more are sure to follow — and Lacra is the one who wants Brencis gone.
Marat
The leader of a rebellion opposing the vrakhiri. The official bio describes him as courageous and charismatic, inspiring loyalty among his followers — but deeply cautious of those around him.
Xanthe
The boyaress who watches over southeastern Vale Sangora. She procures supernatural advantages for Brencis's army — bizarre experiments, growing the Blood Guard ranks, unearthing the valley's ancient secrets. She has lived here for centuries, long before Brencis arrived.
Ambrus
The youngest vrakhir in the valley, turned only during Brencis's takeover. He runs the human-blood supply chain across northern Vale Sangora — bleeding prisoners, transporting and storing blood for Brencis's court. Carries himself with flamboyance; the official bio notes he still genuinely enjoys the company of humans over other vrakhiri.
Bakir
Rules over the southwestern parts of the valley. The official bio calls him the Mad Khan and frames him as an experienced warrior with an unabashed enjoyment of cruelty; he hands out rewards to regime supporters and turns punishment into a grotesque game show.
05
Romance and relationships
Developers have confirmed that romance exists in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and that player choices can lead to romantic relations. The full list of options, the triggers and the ending impact are not part of the public materials we reviewed.
Romance is in the game
Yes. In interviews with Game Informer and The Outerhaven, Rebel Wolves said that romance is in the game, that both dialogue and in-world actions feed into individual relationship tracking, and that NPCs can remember what you do and react to it elsewhere.
What the Anca demo shows
What the Game Informer demo shows is one example: Coen visits Anca, takes a shelter-in-place choice that costs a time segment to study Latin, and the chemistry between them builds through facial expressions and choices that follow. It's an example of the system in motion, not a full romance roster.
The full list of romance options, whether they include women or other relationships, exclusivity between them, and how a romance alters the ending — none of that is confirmed. We won't fill those in before launch.
06
Relationships and Infamy
Infamy tracks how disruptive you are to Brencis's court on a valley-wide scale. Individual relationships live on a separate, more personal layer.
Valley-wide Infamy
Go on rampages, kill indiscriminately, get caught stealing — each of these pushes your Infamy higher. Quest choices that go after Brencis, his retinue or his organization also lift it. Higher Infamy unlocks edicts against you: bounty hunters sent after Coen, a lockdown on Svartrau, more patrols on the streets.
Individual relationship tracking
The same developer interview points out that there is a second layer of relationship tracking: NPCs can remember what you do, and that can close off future interactions or open them. Whether that layer feeds into a romance depends on the choices you make with each NPC individually.
Infamy thresholds are not published. Edicts are described as escalating with Infamy, but no specific tier numbers or trigger conditions are in the public sources.
07
Character creation and customization
You play as the fixed protagonist Coen. The official materials reviewed here do not describe a character creator; armor sets are the customization avenue that has been shown publicly.
Fixed protagonist
Rebel Wolves positions The Blood of Dawnwalker as a single-protagonist story. Game8's coverage treats the question as not yet announced for full character creation; the studio has not promoted a creator, and there is no published screenshot of one.
Armor-set customization
What we have seen in demos is armor-set customization. Coen's visible outfit changes with what he's wearing — the Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor set is the most prominent example, and it is a pre-order bonus that is also earnable through regular play (see the Editions page for eligibility).
Specific hairstyle, face, dye, transmog, or in-game customization interfaces have not been described in the sources.
08
Coen's voice actor
There is no official cast listing yet. The cast entry below comes from IMDb's community-edited listing.
IMDb listing
IMDb lists Will de Renzy-Martin as Coen (voice). IMDb is a third-party database; this is not an official Rebel Wolves or Bandai Namco credit.
We don't have an official announcement on which languages Will de Renzy-Martin records, whether voice and motion capture are the same person, who handles the face model, or whether the English VA covers all voiced languages. The voice-languages table on the Release page covers which languages have voice acting in the game; this section does not.
