Dawnwalker Guide
The Blood of Dawnwalker Requirements and Performance
Every confirmed PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S performance detail we have — official product-page tier 1 and tier 2, IGN's April 2026 reporting, the RPG Site handheld test from 2026-08-31 and Rebel Wolves' 2026-08-24 statement on PS5 / Xbox Series X modes. Where the sources disagree on tiers, that disagreement is shown explicitly; nothing is merged into a single Minimum/Recommended table.
01
PC system requirements
The official European product page lists two configurations side by side without naming either as Minimum or Recommended. Both tier lists below are quoted verbatim, with the components as the publisher displayed them. Citations follow IGN's April report where the component-by-component GPU differs.
Configuration 1 (official product page)
The first set of components listed on the publisher product page. Treat the tier label as "configuration 1" only — the official text does not call this Minimum.
- CPU — Intel Core i5-11400F or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X.
- GPU — NVIDIA GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580.
- RAM — 16 GB.
- Storage 60 GB SSD · Windows 10 · DirectX 12.
Configuration 2 (official product page)
The second set of components on the publisher product page. Same caveat as configuration 1: no tier label is applied by the publisher.
- CPU — Intel Core i7-11700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X.
- GPU — NVIDIA RTX 4060, Radeon RX 7600 XT, or Intel Arc B580.
- RAM — 16 GB.
- Storage 60 GB SSD · Windows 10 · DirectX 12.
IGN's April 2026 split (reporting only)
IGN reported the configuration chart published by Rebel Wolves in April 2026 (updated 2026-04-30). The lowest presettings chart called for an NVIDIA RTX 3050 or GTX 1070 at 1080p targeting 30 fps, and the top Ultra / native 4K chart called for an RTX 5090 at 60 fps without DLSS or FSR. Frame-rate targets here are IGN reporting on a developer-published chart, not a hardware review.
Tier 1's GTX 1060 / RX 580 GPU is what the publisher currently displays; IGN's lowest-presettings chart uses the more modern GTX 1070 / RTX 3050. The two sources disagree on what the lowest presettings line is built around, so this page does not synthesise a single Minimum table out of them.
02
Why published requirements differ
The official product page and IGN both predate the September 3 launch, and both use different baselines. Until the publisher publishes a tier label and a date of refresh, treat either as a snapshot, not a final.
Different lowest-presettings GPU
The publisher's first configuration lists a GTX 1060 / RX 580. IGN's lowest-presettings chart lists a GTX 1070 / RTX 3050 line aimed at 1080p30. We keep both visible on this page rather than averaging them into a single Minimum row.
Tier labels aren't published
The publisher has not published "Minimum" or "Recommended" labels for either of the two configurations. IGN chart tiers were sourced from a developer-supplied graphic, not from the publisher page.
03
PS5 and Xbox graphics modes
Rebel Wolves confirmed on X (covered by Vice, 2026-08-24) that the launch-day patch adds a 60 fps Performance Mode on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X. Xbox Series S keeps its single 30 fps mode. Mode targets below are reported, not promised.
| Console | Performance mode (60 fps target) | Balanced mode (40 fps target) | Quality mode (30 fps target) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Pro | Available — 60 fps target | Available — 40 fps target | Available — 30 fps target | Includes additional visual enhancements per the same article. |
| PS5 | Available — 60 fps target | Available — 40 fps target | Available — 30 fps target | Day-one patch unlocks 60 fps mode. |
| Xbox Series X | Available — 60 fps target | Available — 40 fps target | Available — 30 fps target | Day-one patch unlocks 60 fps mode. |
| Xbox Series S | Not available | Not available | Single mode — 30 fps target | Limited to one performance target per the article. |
These targets are stated by the developer ahead of launch. Actual frame rates will depend on the scene, brightness settings, drive speed and whether a day-one patch has been applied; treat the column as a target, not a lock.
04
Steam Deck performance
RPG Site tested the Steam version on Steam Deck LCD and OLED on 2026-08-30 (article dated 2026-08-31) and on ROG Ally Z1 Extreme and MSI Claw 7 AI+ handhelds. The Deck findings below are summarised from that specific build and not from a Verified badge.
Steam Deck LCD and OLED
Even on the lowest preset at 720p, with the deck's system-wide upscaling engaged, the game could not maintain 30 fps on Steam Deck OLED, and dropped below 20 fps in the open areas. The same conclusion held for the Steam Deck LCD on SteamOS 3.9.0. The PC settings tested for this article are linked below.
Author's recommendation on Steam Deck
The RPG Site piece recommends skipping the game on Steam Deck pending further handheld-performance patches, or streaming from a host PC or console via remote-play apps. The article calls out that this is a launch-window build verdict, not a permanent one.
Windows-based handhelds (ROG Ally, MSI Claw)
On the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme at 25W with 720p and XeSS balanced, the experience was closer to playable, with occasional traversal and loading stutters. With 6 GB GPU memory the experience pushed toward what the author called "playable but pushing it". The MSI Claw 7/8 AI+ at 30W with XeSS Balanced at 1080p ran 30-50 fps in their testing, with frame pacing mostly solid outside minor stutters in Svartrau. Those findings are not Steam Deck findings — different hardware, different settings.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is not displayed on this page as a Steam Deck Verified title. No public Verified / Playable badge for this version has been published in the reviewed materials.
05
PC or PS5?
PC and PS5 have different draw here. The honest answer is that the same scene on both hardware, with identical quality targets, has not been publicly tested in the materials we reviewed, so this section gives you the trade-offs the sources can support — not a single winner.
What PC offers
PC lets you tune the configuration: which graphics preset, whether to enable DLSS / FSR / XeSS, frame-generation, frame-rate limit, gamma and the 16:10 / 21:9 aspect ratios via the in-game display options. That's the side of the trade most configurable.
- Pros: configurable graphics and display, including 21:9 ultrawide.
- Cost and stability depend on your existing hardware and drivers.
What PS5 offers
PS5 and PS5 Pro expose three console mode options (Quality / Balanced / Performance) once the day-one patch lands. The downside is that you cannot tune further than the preset the developer shipped.
- Pros: no driver or shader-compile surprises; day-one patch unlocks the 60 fps mode.
- Cons: only the three console presets; no DLSS / FSR toggle equivalent.
Without a same-scene frame-time comparison on identical settings, neither side is named the winner here. If you already own a capable PC, the configurable pipeline is the draw; if you want a known target on the couch, PS5's mode lineup is the draw.
06
Settings and accessibility
Only the options the 2026-08-31 RPG Site article actually exercised on PC are listed below. The list is intentionally short — settings the article didn't touch aren't promoted into a checklist.
Graphics and upscaling
Multiple quality presets are exposed, with toggles for shadows, lighting, reflections, post-processing, textures, effects, shading, foliage, detail and volumetrics. On top of that:
- DLSS, FSR and XeSS are all supported.
- Frame Generation is supported on PC.
- Post-process toggles cover motion blur, bloom, chromatic aberration and depth of field.
- Quality presets stack on top of the upscale choice rather than replacing it.
Display options
- Window mode and resolution (the article explicitly tested 16:10 and 21:9 support).
- 21:9 ultrawide is verified in the article.
- Frame-rate limit is exposed in the settings.
- V-sync can be toggled.
- Gamma is adjustable.
Controls and shader caching
- Two controller presets are available out of the box.
- Mouse-and-keyboard rebinding is exposed across abilities, shortcuts, combat and movement sections.
- Shaders compile on first launch or after a major update — the article flagged a two-days-old major update ahead of its testing.
Subtitle size, color-blind modes and other accessibility toggles are not listed here as confirmed options — the reviewed PC-settings article does not enumerate them, and adding them as if tested would mislead players. Check the in-game menu yourself when the build lands.
